I'm Angry

We've messed around with this Trump White House for three weeks and already I've had enough.  This morning's TV cinched it for me. I'm madder than a wet hen about all these claims of voter fraud. The man won, why can't he give this voter fraud falsehood a rest? It's been proven again and again it's  a non issue. Give it up I say.

I got mad all over again when I read a Tweet from the Senior Senator from Texas, John Cornyn, saying "So illegal voting is more than zero; just how big a problem it is should be the subject of an objective investigation, maybe a commission." A bigger problem than the possibility Russia interfered with the 2016 election? Why are Republicans opposed to investigating that?

Want to know what happens in Senator Cornyn's home state regarding voter fraud? Read this article, Illegal voting gets Texas woman 8 years in prison and certain deportation.

I'm also angry the president has appointed Vice President Pence to investigate voter fraud. That's like putting the fox in charge of the hen house.

The FEC commissioner calls on Trump to provide evidence to support voter fraud claim. How far do you think that's going to get in rolling back this ugly falsehood? It's like emptying a feather pillow from an airplane. You can never reclaim all the feathers.

Who do you think is buying into all these falsehoods? Voters who are uneducated and want to remain uneducated. Republicans have always pushed the theory of voter fraud to keep down the minority vote.

Never before has it been so important to have organizations in place to fight this ugly demon. I'm going to suggest two organizations that can use your donations.

NDRC is the organization President Obama set up before leaving office to take legal action against redistricting, voter fraud etc. This group is already at work. You don't wait until 2018 to begin to do the job. They're already bringing in lawyers and making plans to stop some of this nonsense. I've already made a donation and will again.
Let America Vote is a brand new organization created to fight voter suppression. Jason Kander is a bright young man, possibly a good candidate for Democrats in the 2020 election. I'm reading very good things about this organization. I've also made a donation to it.

We must do everything possible to defang this ugly beast, the sooner the better.

Poll: Does Trump's support have a ceiling - or a floor? I found this to be an interesting read.

  1. He is either truly delusional or it's a slide of hand to get us all twisted up about voter fraud while something else is going on like them not looking into the Russian connection. Probably a combination of them both.

I just signed up at NRDC. Thanks.

    1. Russia is the elephant in the room. Anything to keep the focus off Russia.

  2. What's really the elephant in the room is a dumptruck load of lies. If they make up outrageous lies that people get upset about they can go about doing scuzzy things while nobody's watching.

    1. I've never seen anything like the lies coming from this White House. It's unbelievable. Most surprising how the Republican Moral Police have closed their eyes and are refusing to take any responsible action.

  3. I am most concerned with voter suppression. I have donated to Let America Vote and will check into NDRC. Thanks.
As for the anger, yes, it comes and goes. Sunday is my day off from anger, so I don't watch much of "the shows" on Sunday morning.

  4. Why do you watch all of this if it makes you so angry? You don't have any control over any of it. The Democratic Party got comfortable and a bit blase' in their thinking and now they have four years to get it back together. Are you going to be angry for the next four years? Do all you can do with your letters and such, but try and keep your BP under control, or you will make yourself sick and be less effective.

    1. Judy, I goofed, I reacted. I promised myself I would not "react" and I did. The only thing that saves me just a little, is I also offered two avenues of "action."

Politics is a life long passion of mine. There was a time when I pulled back for a while but I'm like a moth drawn to fire. I'm always drawn back.

You need to understand the root of my anger is the Democratic Party. Apathy (me included) allowed the Party to get in such a mess a space was created for Donald Trump.

It's so much more than Democrats being out of power and Republicans being in power. The Republican Party is as messed up as the Democratic Party. I can't fix the Republican Party but I can have a small part in fixing the Democratic Party.

I have to disagree there's nothing I can do about the situation. I can be an informed voice that reaches out to my children, friends, family, blog readers that comment, and those who read and never comment.

I can donate money and make people aware of organizations working to correct the abuses of human rights, including voting rights.

    2. I get it. I too have had the political passion since I was quite young--teen years. I reacted much as you have, and a decade or so ago, realized that I had to step back, and calm down. My 1st husband practically thrashed me when he found out I wouldn't vote for George Wallace, 100 years ago. My second husband DID smack me up when he found out I would not vote for David Duke in the primary. One of my long time friends quit speaking to me when she found out I didn't vote for Obama, so...........I have a bad taste in my mouth about politics now. Neither party is what they were, back in the day, or what they should be now. I'm a Moderate--there is no place for me in today's political world.

  5. I have had a friend visiting this week and she and I have been out doing fun things. In the evenings, if we turn on the television, it is to watch an episode or two of The Crown. I am behind in all social network reading and it has been a wonderful vacation for both of us.
