The Morning After The Talk

It's the morning after the talk and all is well. Then Bob gets up and announces we need to go to FredMeyer (grocery store) because he has a 20% coupon he wants to spend on underwear and he wants to return a $3 bungee cord. (dang those super stores)

Mid morning we are on our way with bright shining faces through major road construction headed for FredMeyer. As we enter the store I show him seats and tell him to meet me back there. I head for the grocery section to pick up the few items we can buy only at this store.

He finishes before me and true to his nature he's a busy boy.  He's a friendly man, loves people, and will talk to just about anybody. I find him entertaining a nice lady who has just signed him up for a Visa credit card! He's a sucker for anything free. He got all these freebies from the nice lady for signing up.

I need to be eating more chicken but I really don't like it. I'm always looking for ways to disguise it. I have these chicken spinach & feta sausages out on the Weber Q. If Bob ever leaves the lid down long enough for them to cook I'm going to see if I like them.

I can now report these sausages are quite tasty and I will buy more if I can remember where I bought them. I have grocery stores dancing like sugar plums in my head.

I decided I could smell the kitchen drain, probably from the garbage disposal.  I got online to see what I could do about it and did the following:

1) 1 cup baking soda and 1 cup white vinegar in the drain to set for 10 minutes.
2) Poured pan of boiling water down the drain
3) Because I have a garbage disposal it was recommended to turn it on and run 2 cups ice and 1 cup salt (I used ice cream salt)

Seems to have worked.

  1. Wow. Just one of those methods might have done it - all three and your drain must smell like a summer meadow! Oh, and you could throw in some cut up lemon, too!

    1. I did have a little citrus 'thingy' I dropped in when it was over. It smells nice today.

  2. Those sausages sound good.
I turn the water heater temperature up and let the hot water run for about 10 minutes and the smell is gone. I love our tankless water heater.

    1. The sausages were very good. Hope I can find them again. We don't have a tankless water heater.

    2. I love chicken and generally hate sausage but those sound good. I'll have to look for them. Glad you had a good shopping trip. It's more a social event for some of us.

Good smelling drains are a good thing. LOL

    3. This morning wasn't too bad. Probably because there wasn't so much grocery shopping involved.

  3. This post made me laugh, I hope it was supposed to be funny. :) (I also don't care for chicken much unless it has a yummy sauce of some kind.)

    1. I'm convinced the world needs more laughter. Even when I'm frustrated I know my life is so much better than many women have it. Bob is a twin. His twin was totally opposite of Bob, very high tempered and totally negative. Thank goodness I got the good one. My poor sister-in-law had a very hard time with her twin.

  4. Oh Linda, Linda! I could sit and read your posts all day. You are such a good caring wife, but you make me laugh. Your posts are really great! I've got to tell my sister to read your blog. We both can relate to a lot of what you write.

    1. I try not to get down about my life because it really is a very nice life and I've had a good ride these 54 years with Bob. I intend to have as few regrets as possible when our life together ends. Yes, encourage your sister to read my blog. I'd love to know her. I certainly am enjoying getting to know you.

  5. Just when I thought that Jesus talk would mean a respite from shopping and food talk, there you go again! I'll pass on the sausage, and my drain smells OK, but I do love how you tell a story!

    1. I was counting on a respite from grocery stores myself. Thanks, I think I talk Texan.

  6. You are too funny! There's a chicken meatball thing mom and I like at Costco. Art doesn't care for it, but it's tasty and convenient.

  7. The chicken feta sausages are good! We have a Wegman's brand that we occasionally buy. Put it on a soft roll with some tazaki sauce. Yum!

    1. I will definitely be on the hunt for more of these sausages. I'm thinkings it might have been Walmart where I saw them.

  9. I love your wry sense of humor.
I use spinach and feta chicken sausages, but I don't recognize that brand. I like them in a pasta dish with fresh spinach and olive oil.

  10. Those sausages sound almost healthy. I will look for them. You have to admit, your trips with Bob are an adventure. Interesting about his twin. You really lucked out.

  11. You have a knack for tackling a job and seeing it through! I just cleaned my tiny bathroom today and the bleach smell is pretty strong! Is it wrong that I LOVE that smell??

  12. Hahaha. You may never find those sausages again or you might have to try all 6 stores you've been to. Might be worth calling them first. I'm not sure I would trust them it might be better than playing grocery hop.
