Vintage Shopping

Vintage shopping seems to be the rage these days.  I have never had a lot of desire to run old stuff through a second time.

Portland is certainly the place to live if you are into vintage anything.  Our Texas daughter says when she visits she has trouble telling the homeless from those that just dress like they are homeless.  It is mighty casual here.

This is our son who has never cared flip about clothes.  He works in downtown Portland and the place is getting to him.  He is wearing a pea coat from the 70s he had purchased in a vintage shop.

His plaid flannel shirt is from Goodwill.  Shirts are to be unbuttoned to the sternum and worn over a tee-shirt he told me.

His father went off to rummage in his closet and returned with the navy all-weather coat he was issued in 1952 when he enlisted in the Air Force.  Now that is vintage.

  1. I have my husband's pea coat. I hope one day to fit into it again. I had the lady at the dry cleaner adjust the fit some - about 25 years ago. I love the style, although it is a style for trimmer folk, IMHO.

  2. You son has a sense of fashion. My closet is a vintage shop. The other day I wore a top that a young lady gushed over. It was 30 years old.

  3. Lots of folks are shopping at thrift stores here in Seattle too, and not necessarily because of the low cost. I think vintage clothing is fun for young people. Not for me. I am vintage enough.
