No More Shock

We made it through another week with no big calamities. Bob had five medical appointments and we shopped at Costco.

We learned Bob's retired cardiologist died from melanoma cancer in his eye that eventually metastasized to his liver. He was a very private man and did not share his condition with his patients. He also requested no obituary and no service.

I'm more annoyed than shocked by the latest Trump news. Where have people been? What's new about this? He's been saying things as bad or worse than this for months.

I'm most annoyed with Republican members of Congress and the Republican Party officials. Where were they months ago? Jumping ship now is too late. Early voting has already begun. The horse has left the barn. Trump's name cannot be removed from the ballot.

This morning I read that the news yesterday triggered outrage because it came so close to the day we vote, and people are just now tuning in to the candidates. Really? Then let's change the rules and run campaigns for six months rather than two years. If people don't tune in until the month before we vote we could probably shorten it to three months. Why do we need such long campaigns in the world we live in today? Every voter should be able to easily access all the information they need to inform their vote.

This election has pretty much proved TV ads are no longer effective. What about bus trips? Candidates don't do train trips much anymore. Surely there must be a  better, cheaper way to campaign for office in this country.

This race has been more than any country should have to endure.

  1. Good that you've had a good week. this election gets crazier every day. I wonder if people will learn from this disaster.

    1. I am 100% positive the Republican Party learned nothing.

  2. I didn't think this election could get any crazier but it did! Now Melania says she has forgiven her husband and so should the nation while her husband keeps bringing up Bill Clinton's 30 year old infidelities claiming they should disqualify Hillary! Crazy! The Republicans are going to have a lot of party rebuilding when this is all over.

    1. The Republican Party has learned nothing. They are totally convinced conservatism is the only answer to all the country's problems, but they can't agree on a definition of conservatism. Until they can agree on what conservatism represents the party will remain in disarray.

  3. And that emperor keeps running around in his birthday suit while everyone is blind. WHEN will people wise up??
Shortening the election season - one of the best suggestions I've heard in a long time.

    1. No wonder voters view politicians as worse than pond scumb. I believe there will be a lot of serious fallout after this election. The level of anger may well increase.

  4. I second the motion: Campaigns for six months, not two years. Trump's miserable weak apology said nothing to his victims.

    1. Campaigns are too long but probably neither party would agree to shorter ones. Then there's all the money people are making, no doubt we're stuck.

  5. You so have my vote for shortening the season. This has been an unbearably long, torturous season. Of course if it had been shorter, a lot of his pearls of wisdom would not have surfaced, he could have actually become president and we would have all been screwed. Let's just get this over with.

    1. These candidates are suppose to be vetted but what does that mean? I shudder every time I think of John Edwards running as VP on the Democratic ticket.

    2. Vetting is done by the media who digs up whatever they can find. Shortening the election cycles gives them less time to do it in. Better to overturn Citizens United to get the influence of big donor money out of the elections.

  6. Campaigns should be six months. No more! Good grief. How much are we expected to take? This campaign has taken a toll. Everyone is setting their hair on fire now, but where were they a year ago? Nothing has changed. They knew then what they know now. Trump is unfit.

Five appointments in one week. Whew! How stressful and time consuming. You are something.

    1. "Everyone is setting their hair on fire" is exactly how I feel.

Sorry to say the medical world has become our social life.i don't recommend it. Surely there's got to be something more light hearted and fun.

  7. Oh, good grief. Donald Trump said some very vulgar things? What a shock! Had all those now reversing endorsements somehow missed the fact that he is a misogynist, boorish blowhard? What is wrong here??

    1. No doubt we can expect more bad behavior after the election. Donald Trump does not do well with losing.

  8. I can't even with Trump any more, or his supporters. Sadly, family wise, and I can't explain it, I know too many. :o

  9. I am annoyed too by people who still back Trump, people who just decided they couldn't back Trump, and people who are "undecided". Good grief!
