No More Shock

We made it through another week with no big calamities. Bob had five medical appointments and we shopped at Costco.

We learned Bob's retired cardiologist died from melanoma cancer in his eye that eventually metastasized to his liver. He was a very private man and did not share his condition with his patients. He also requested no obituary and no service.

I'm more annoyed than shocked by the latest Trump news. Where have people been? What's new about this? He's been saying things as bad or worse than this for months.

I'm most annoyed with Republican members of Congress and the Republican Party officials. Where were they months ago? Jumping ship now is too late. Early voting has already begun. The horse has left the barn. Trump's name cannot be removed from the ballot.

This morning I read that the news yesterday triggered outrage because it came so close to the day we vote, and people are just now tuning in to the candidates. Really? Then let's change the rules and run campaigns for six months rather than two years. If people don't tune in until the month before we vote we could probably shorten it to three months. Why do we need such long campaigns in the world we live in today? Every voter should be able to easily access all the information they need to inform their vote.

This election has pretty much proved TV ads are no longer effective. What about bus trips? Candidates don't do train trips much anymore. Surely there must be a  better, cheaper way to campaign for office in this country.

This race has been more than any country should have to endure.
