The ice maker died deader than a hammer during the day on Friday. That is a serious problem around this house because I use a lot of ice. Let me repeat that, I use a LOT of ice. Refrigerators in these apartments are not equipped with ice makers. Years ago we went with cabinet top ice makers.
This would be our third and the others came from Fred Meyer so off we went to get a new one.
I looked online and saw they had the model we wanted so what could go wrong? As you can see the two models are not at all the same.
It does irritate me when stores picture a product as in store but you arrive to a different model. It was Friday afternoon late, the last day of the 'sale,' and this was the last one. Because the product was different than the picture online they gave us an additional discount.
In the end we took it and headed home. Once we'd wrestled it in the house it had to be set up and the old one removed. It was then we remembered jihadist recycling son Rodger would be here on Sunday. The old one needed to disappear quickly or we would be forced to let him add it to the already significant amount of stuff in his garage waiting to go to the proper recycling center.
By this time my tongue was hanging out but Bob was determined to press on. He rested a while, got a second wind of energy and we were off to the trash disposal in our complex to heave the thing into the crusher.
It's been quite a week. From comments on previous posts I've been reminded of Bob's compromised immune system, the reason we keep him away from people wearing skin. He's done so well because we're careful about too much human contact.
Three suggestions have promise I think. A mom/pop place to eat lunch often enough he could get to know and chat with the wait staff, a coffee shop, and a dog.
This morning I am beat because this is far more activity than I like. Son Rodger and his family will be here on Sunday. I'm going to savor today and hope I don't have to roll the wheels on the car today.
Ever have a day when you just want to stay at home and see no one?
