A New Week

My new Airpods arrived and I am thrilled with them. I can listen to audiobooks and podcasts now without having to carry my phone around with me. They're wonderful.

I seldom listen to audio items when I'm away from home, and I certainly would not recommend these for jogging. It's $70 to replace one if you lose it. Mine stay at home, by my chair.

Bob has an appointment today with the cardiologist. I'm not expecting any bad news.

Perhaps during these days of uncertainty it would be good for our souls if we looked for ways to do something kind for someone else everyday. Pay for a stranger's coffee, or meal. Send flowers to someone who would be surprised. Call an old friend. Visit someone lonely.  I don't know, I'm just grasping for ways to show kindness to combat all the hate being forced upon us.

The White House seems to be dismissive of the recent protests as people paid to protest. That was a lot of people to pay in the Women's March. I would like to remind them the protestors are not solely Democrats. Many of the protestors are Independents, some are Republicans who crossed over to vote for Hillary, some left the top of their ballots blank, some may be disgusted Republicans, and some didn't vote at all but wish they had.

Executive Power Run Amok, in the NYT
This is an excellent article by John Yoo,  an attorney in the Bush White House.

  1. This is so true! No kidding that it would be a LOT of people to pay if that were the case. And yet some T supporters believe this sort of garbage. I've never heard of those airpods. How cool!

    1. i grew up among religious right wingers so I should not be surprised but I continue to be amazed by these people. They live in a fantasy world every day of their lives and are extremely susceptible to every charleton that passes their way. These AirPods are expensive at $159, but I spend many hours a day listening to podcasts ane audio books.

  2. I love starting the chain of paying kindness ahead again. It was going around here last summer and I was precipitant of it twice and we need it more now than ever.

Hope Bob's appointment brings good news today.

    1. We're going to have to practice a lot of kindness in the coming days. I refuse to believe the majority of Americans are as crass and filled with hate as our current administration in the White House.

  3. Today I bought Valentine cards to send, Valentine candy to give away, and items with which to make a small Valentine party at church next Sunday. I also loaded my bag of tricks with coloring pages, stickers, and erasers for the kids at Columbia. I'm doing my bit for kindness.

  4. I have a small thing I do every month, and one of the byproducts is the good feeling I get from doing it. I think if everyone knew how good it makes you feel to do a kind thing, we'd all be a little kinder to each other.

Hope Bob gets good news at the cardio guy's office. Even no news is good news when you're our age.
I have to have those Airpods. Honestly.

    1. We all feel better when we think of someone other than ourselves. I absolutely love these AirPods. I was constantly tangled in cords and had to take my phone with me when I got out of my chair or I had to pause everything and disconnect myself from my phone. No more, I love it.

  5. I make some time to phone elderly people who are alone. I'm surprised how much they appreciate the calls.

    1. I don't think any of us are aware how many lonely people there are in the world.

  6. I thought the fact that the newest iPhone had no head phone jack was a mistake. Those airpods are expensive, and they do look sort of clunky. I'm glad that you are happy with yours.
I have found myself performing small random acts of kindness more that I used to. It just feels necessary in this political and social climate.

    1. I do not have the new iPhone. I think the AirPods are extremely clunky looking. I have no idea why they stuck with that design. They look like their regular earbuds with the wires cut off. I can only guess it's for ease in handling them. They aren't like hearing aids that you put in and leave for a whole day. They are very expensive at $159. If you lose one it's $70 to replace it. Still I love them.

  7. I remind myself that the base supporting the current administration is actually a minority. Loud and pushy, but a minority nevertheless. I hope that it is a wake up call.
I recently had a wake up call on a personal level, after meeting a couple of members of a conservative Christian church at a political seminar. They were pretty clear that hatred was not one of their Christian values and my own prejudices got a needed tweak.

    1. Olga, Christians, the Church, and religion are my biggest struggle. I'm so bitter. I try but still it pops through. I need serious help in that area.

  8. In a time of hate and angst this is the perfect atmosphere to spread kindness as much for ourselves as others. That is the theme of my next post.

    1. Patti, I agree but it is so easy to be bitter, so easy. If we keep reminding each other perhaps it will help. I hope so.
