Time to Say Thanks

I'm feeling mellow today. This race is almost over and I'm going to miss seeing the names and reading about a lot of people involved in this election cycle.

I sent a message of thanks to Donna Brazile for the fine work she's done serving as Interim Director of the DNC through this election. She is a classy lady and did not deserve the abuse aimed her way. She lived out Michelle Obama's words "when they go low we go high."

There are a few millennials I want to thank for holding my hand through these troublesome days. They've helped me keep the faith when I might have wavered. Hillary's campaign manager is a millennial and did a fine job managing her campaign.

In the coming days it will be time to stay in contact with those elected to Congress. It's so easy these days to do that. In my case I will have the luxury of sending messages of thanks and encouragement because the ones I voted for are all Democrats that will be returned to office. Many of you will have a tougher task, but a more necessary task, of letting your Senators and Representatives know you oppose their positions on issues.

I don't know how effective it is sending digital messages but it makes me feel better, like I'm actually a part of the process, that I have a voice in this messy political process.

It's time now to think positive thoughts and to put those thoughts into action. This country badly needs to see positive action, and positive examples to follow.

  1. Yes, we need positive action, definitely. I'm so glad to see this long, painful campaign almost at an end. It's been anxiety-inducing. I've been depressed for the past few months. I'm ready for a fresh start.

    1. It won't seve any of us well if we all remain in 'fight mode.' We need to play our part in bringing down the temperature.

    1. It is vital in the coming days that we all be fact checkers and speak up when necessary. It's also necessary we tone down the deafening negative voices.

  3. I won't be mellow until tomorrow night when it's all over with. At least I hope I'm mellow.

I agree with you about Donna Brazile. She's a good person and we need more of those in politics.

    1. Think positive! I so wish Donna could be the permanent chair of the DNC but I suspect she wants as far from that job as possible.

  4. I am ready to celebrate the our first Woman POTUS. I know the negative attacks won't go away, but I can rejoice anyway.
Like you, I am represented by returning Democrats. I will want to send messages of support to them and to Madame President.

    1. Hillary has run a good campaign which makes me hopeful she'll do the same in the White House. The only thing I can think of that I can do to help her is to post fact checks on our blogs and Facebook. Even that will have little affect on those who chosen to believe the FOX message. I'm immensely pleased I was able to vote for the first black president and the first woman president in my lifetime.
