The People Have Spoken

It's time now to move on.

This is all far above my thinking power. From time to time I have to take a mental health break from politics and this is one of those times. No doubt I'll be back on subject at some point given the seriousness of my addiction. It will not be good for my mental health to listen and read this situation analyzed for the coming days, weeks, and months.

I don't live a very exciting life so I often don't have much to blog about, thus all the political posts. I have nothing to fill that space.

At this moment in time Bob is actually feeling pretty good so I have no health issues to write about.

In the coming days you will find me reading Christmas books, listening to Christmas music, and knitting socks. I'll be reading your blogs and commenting as usual. When I have something worth writing about I will be posting.

Tomorrow is another day, I think.

  1. One of the oddest thoughts I had this morning was anger that with the years ahead definitely fewer than the ones in back of me, it's supremely unfair that four of them will have to include that psychopath in the White House.

    1. Remember, mid term elections tend to favor the party out of power. This removes the Clintons from center stage. Obama is now the leader of the Democratic Party.

    2. Damn, Marty, you hit the nail on the head spectacularly.

Linda, I'll miss your posting, but I understand.

  2. Me too, Linda. I doubt I'll be writing anymore blogs about politics. For my own mental health I have to give myself a break. But don't let that be an excuse for not sharing your days with us. Even if you think what you're doing is boring, it isn't to others looking to compare the lives of ordinary people across the country. It's comforting.

    1. I'm already feeling my political juices flowing again but I do want to get all the analysis out of the way before I get too involved again. Frankly, I am as disgusted with Democrats as I am Republicans.

  3. We can still be political. Mid terms aren't that far off and there are always emails and phone calls to our representatives nudging them in the direction we wish. I plan to keep working for the next 4 years or until my expiration date comes up.

    1. You're right Patti. We need to keep in mind nothing happens quickly in government. None of the things we fear are going to happen immediately, if they happen at all. The Republican Party is only an empty shell now with the Clintons and Obama gone, they have no plans for the country. They were united in their hatred of the Clintons and Obama. The burden is on them now to come up with policy. That takes a while. Obama now leads the Democratic Party, not the Clintons. Interesting days ahead.

  4. Glad to hear all is going well for Bob right now so am sure that makes life easier. Holidays will soon be upon us. There will be plenty more political doings I expect, but maybe this is the calm before the storm after Jan. inauguration.

    1. Government changes by increments. We're not going to see the world shift come January. No administration or party is ever able to accomplish what they claim they will change and certainly not in today's world of partisan politics.

    2. It's NOT partisan. It's full blown Republican domination. They dominate both houses, and they will dominate the Supreme Court.

    3. I mean 'bi partisan.' That has gone away, for at least 2 years.

  5. I can understand your desire to leave all the political nonsense behind but never fear you will find all kinds of things to talk about on your blog.

    1. Yes, it was a difficult loss. I obviously had no idea the make-up of this country. I'm all cacooned in this comfy blue state. Quite an eye opener.

  6. I have spent a lot of time on Facebook today, reading and exchanging messages with supporters and a few critics. It seems my own family members are my worst attackers. One of them called me a cry baby and another said I was a bully. I have gone fron grief to angey in this day's time. Tomorrow, with the sun scheduled to return, I'll go work it off outside in the yard. But damn, it hurts. My 13 year old grandson posted on Facebook "Once again I am disappointed in my country". Me too.

    1. A lot of raw emotion to deal with today. Done a lot of texting with daughter in Texas today. She took the loss very hard. Son doesn't say a lot but began receiving texts and photos from him this evening. He was marching in the Portland protest march. That was his way of dealing with the loss. I've been numb most of the day but am beginning to feel my political juices begin to flow again. Not sure what I can do that will help but I can be informed and perhaps pass that information on to my children and grandson. Maybe they'll be able to use some of it in conversation in the work place. Don't discuss politics on Facebook because our family is in Texas and all Trump people. There's a reason I moved to Oregon. I unfollowed Texas family until after the election.

  7. I was devastated by the failure of the Equal Rights Amendment and I am even more devastated today. I pray (in my own peculiar way) for sanity and peace.

    1. We must push Democrats to vote. Education, education, education, I see no other hope.

  8. I'm glad to hear that Bob's feeling good. What a relief that must be. I hope the good days go on, and even improve.

The beauty of the ordinary often is under-rated. I read a couple of years ago about a guy from New York (Brooklyn, I think) who decided to walk a marathon, but to do it by walking about his own block every day until he'd covered 26 miles. His writing about what he saw -- often for the first time -- was fascinating.

    1. That story is very appropriate for today. Perhaps we could have avoided some of this pain if we'd spent more time in our communities looking at the lives of those living nearest us.

  9. Your comment to Marty about mid term elections favoring the party out of power is encouraging, and has the benefit of being true. :) And there's also the hope that he will be a one-term president.
