Here We Go Again

Republicans are sure Hillary is guilty of a crime. They just don't know what crime.

She isn't even in office and they're already talking about all the investigations they have planned and blocking all her Supreme Court appointments. Does this sound like a party putting country first? More to the point, concerned about correcting the problems within their own party?

Do you think Republicans have noticed their party is in tatters? They've been after the Clintons since 1992. They devoted all their attention to investigating Clintons and no attention to the well being of their party. In attempting to destroy the Clintons they destroyed their party by neglect.

Can you be impeached for acts committed in a job you previously held? If so, can the Bush administration still be investigated and impeached?

I rolled my eyes when I learned the latest email debacle did not involve Hillary but rather her aide who's married to Anthony Weiner. That is so like the Clintons. If there's sleaze anywhere around they can be counted on to be close enough to cause talk that stokes the Republican flames of suspicion. I miss the Obamas already.

  1. The Republican old guard is in trouble and if they don't learn a lesson from the Trump candidacy and the obstructionism that made the timing right for him to win the primaries, they are going to destroy the country along with their party.

Millions upon millions of dollars have been spent investigating the Clinton's and surprise, surprise, there are no smoking guns (except for lying about Monica). It's time to give it a rest and mind the chickens in their own hen houses.

    1. I'm not expecting to see good changes as long as they are focused on the Clintons, perhaps when there are no longer Clintons to investigate.

A lot to be done in that party. Will have to be totally reformed to make it relevant again. So much of their platform would have needed to be done in the 30s. Not even reasonable to think workable today.

  2. Frankly, it is sounding more and more like the Republican party as a whole is trying to pull off a non-violent coup. They are doing all that they can to destroy the 2 party system in this country. It's awful. That's why I'm voting Demo in every single race on my ballot.

  3. I always vote a straight Democratic ticket. I still say Democrats could end this mess if they turned out to vote.

Don't see any relief in sight on Republican side. Perhaps next generation will be able to reform the party and make it relevant again.

    1. I feel so helpless. It is not good to have a political party in so much trouble. I seriously doubt the current party can heal itself in four years and I fear a third party will not be able to be airborne in four years.

  6. You mentioned the Clinton's proximity to sleaze before, but I really don't think you can hold them responsible for their connection to Mr. Weiner. And sleaze is pretty abundant in most political circles. The Obamas are a remarkable exception.

    1. I'm not holding them responsible. Hillary is very loyal to Huma, no doubt there's no fault on the Clintons part. Weiner is sleaze and that made the headlines. Right or wrong it's fodder for the Republicans and their witch hunt. The Republicans took down their whole party hating the Clintons. The tiniest detail is grounds for suspicion, and just when we thought the email debacle was fading, now it's back.

  7. The FBI director, Comey was Republican until he switched to Independent, right? Haven't they said he might have violated the Hatch Act?

    1. I have no idea what's going on with Comey. On the surface it looks like an incredibly stupid thing he did. I'm not impressed. Did I read the term in office for the FBI director is 10 years and he's only served 2 or 3? I'm really hacked he fanned the flames on that email investigation.

  8. I just don't know what to say anymore about the current political environment -- the fact that Trump is a major party nominee, that there are those who support him blindly, that there are those who are undecided(!), and that the Republican party takes actual pride in obstruction. It is a sad time

    1. It disturbs me that so many Americans takes voting so lightly, that so many are uneducated and proud of it, and that so many have herd mentality.
