A Little Encouraged

The Prednisone must be kicking in as I felt the urge to give my bathroom a good cleaning this morning, not a minute too soon. Such a good feeling when that task is finished.

Those of you who've read my blog for sometime know of the mortal wounds my faith suffered at the hands of fundamentalist evangelicals. Since the 80s I've watched to see if that situation would ever change and be good again. I've recently come across information that gives me hope that change is beginning to happen. There's evidence the old guard radicals are falling out of favor with younger evangelicals and change is happening. Death has eleminated some of the radicals as they age out and more of that has to happen but they're not being replaced by other radicals. It's been a long time coming but it is balm to my wounded soul. I am encouraged.

I've learned more this election about some fine young millennials, mentored by President Obama, that  give me hope for the future of the Democratic Party. Many of Hillary Clinton's campaign team are of that group and they've run a splendid campaign. I'm going to be following these people to see where the future takes them. I am encouraged.

Last night I listened to Bill Maher interview President Obama at the White House. Oh that it had been  possible for him to sit in living rooms across America and visit with Americans. I'm convinced this anger, fear, and hatred we're dealing with today would not have happened. Unfortunately he never stood a chance against FOX News and the fear that has ravaged the Republican Party. I'm looking forward to the work he's going to do free of FOX News and Republicans. He's young and I'm encouraged by the thought he will be able to accomplish much more for America out of the White House than he was able to accomplish in the White House.

I am encouraged.

  1. Hope is really needed at this time. I hope you're right that the next generation will not carry on old battles.

    1. Surely the pendulum has to begin to swing the other way soon. Sometimes you have to look hard to find hope but we're doomed if we lose hope.

  2. I totally agree and hope the President Obama will do some great works out of office. President Jimmy Carter sure has shown what can be done.
    Enjoyed your blog--thanks

    1. I expect President Obama and Michelle to accomplish great things free of the White House. I look forward to seeing them build their library and see what projects they're going to have to make America better.

  3. Never in my adult life was I as inspired by a presidential candidate as I was with Obama, and he lived up to his word. Much, much respect for him and Michelle.

    1. I never expect to see another President in my lifetime I will agree with as often as I agreed with President Obama.

  4. I agree about the Obama's continuing to be a positive influence in our nation after his time in office. I'm reading a book by David Axelrod and it's giving me another view of Barack (and Hillary) which raises my esteem even more.

  5. I read the Axelrod book too. I follow David Axelrod on Twitter. I'm amazed how much Obama accomplished. I'm looking forward to following his post presidency.

  6. I hope you are right. It really is up to the Millennials now. I know a few, but they are heavily influenced by their ultra conservative grandparents. Education and exposure is the key and therein lies the problem. I'm in the South and here it will be a long haul to enlightenment.

    1. I feel bad for progressives living in the South. Right wing politics is one reason I was so happy to leave Texas and move to Oregon. It is so discouraging to live in such a negative environment. Bless you my friend.

  7. Glad you are starting to feel better. Prednisone will definitely put a bounce in your step :-)

I, too, read the Axelrod book. I enjoy reading these kind of books, as they often give you an inside look at the political life.

I'm looking forward to seeing what wonderful things Michelle and Barack accomplish following his presidency.

    1. I would love a Chief Justice Obama but he's got greater things to do I think. I'm going to be watching those two closely. My all time favorites in the White House.

    1. No doubt they're going to lay low and write their books, which I'll be eager to read. Then I expect them to surface again in the public eye. I'm certainly going to be watching for them.
