Too Many Doctors

You've heard about too many cooks in the kitchen, well, Bob has one too many doctors. His primary care physician is just a little too involved in his case. I understand the reason behind having a primary care physician to oversee and coordinate care but in Bob's case it's one too many most of the time.

All the angst I went through over Bob being 'called in' by the hematologist was for nothing. The primary care doctor messaged him he needed to see Bob. That recent bad bruise on Bob's arm excited a few people in the medical community.

Frankly, they need to stay out of the hematologist's business. We were not alarmed by the bruise. We've been at this blood business a very long time. We're on top of it. Yes, Bob's lab reports are awful but they've been awful for years. Nothing new. I have enough going on caring for Bob without an over active doctor added to the mix.

Now some good news. This morning we saw the new cardiologist and are so pleased to have him on Bob's care team.

I watched the debate which is unheard of for me as I avoid controversy at all costs. Our son was quite surprised to learn I watched a debate. I assured him this was not typical, not a real debate.

My question this morning is, does it LEGALLY matter if Donald Trump accepts the results of the November 8 vote? For harmony and the good of the country the losing candidate should graciously concede to the winner. Isn't the election actually out of either candidate's hands?

For those who would bring up Gore/Bush, don't bother, nothing close to this situation. The state of Florida has a law that requires a recount if the results are too close. That law kicked in and then, as I understand it, Bush took it to the Supreme Court and the rest is history. Gore won the popular vote, Bush won the electoral college.

Surely this country's future does not hang in the balance, subject to the whim of a sore looser.

  1. I'm happy that you are getting your doctors straightened out. Some of them need to be much better listeners.
About the debate: No, Trump cannot change the outcome of the election. The problem is the doubt he casts over a process that we need to be able to trust. It is not possible to rig an election like he talks about, and voter fraud is minimal, but his low education supporters will not want to accept that, and surprisingly, they are legion! That is a large chunk of our society that will try to undermine faith in a process that is fundamental to our democracy. And besides, that, Trump is a big jerk.

    1. I don't think the polls I watch and people I listen to are wrong. They certainly weren't wrong in 2012. I do hope Hillary can win by a significant margin. It's going to be more difficult if she wins by a small margin.

  2. SO THRILLED re the hematology concerns!!!

Re Trump, I honestly don't know. We are on completely new ground here. I suspect it could get fast-tracked to the Supreme Court very quickly. Of course, the situation with the Supreme Court is highly volatile, too. It's why I'm voting our every single Republican on my voter ballot, no matter how minute. I'm sending my message loud and clear.

    1. I'm a straight Democrat voter all the way down to dog catcher. Never thought there could be a case where I would vote Republican BUT I know now if the Democrats ran their own form of Donald Trump, for the good of the country I would vote Republican.

  3. That bruise looked like nothing out of the ordinary to me for someone on blood thinners. Glad Bob's hematology doctor agrees.

Regarding Trump not accepting the results of the election. It matters because he's saying that as a dog whistle to the people who think if he doesn't win they need to use a "2nd amendment solution" to get rid of Hillary and take over the government by force (think militia groups around the country). Those alt-right people are scary and if Trump keeps acting like the election is rigged it will give them a mandate.

    1. I was very surprised the reaction Bob's bruised arm caused in the medical offices he visits, very surprised.

I just hope Hillary can win by a wide margin. There's going to be hell to pay if she wins by a narrow margin.

    2. I used to worry that Don's bruises would make some people think it was caregiver abuse. LOL

  4. Who knew how hard it would be to track health care WITH insurance and no financial problems?? I read and 'listen' to your journey with your dear husband and am taking notes.
I just want to to say that while we are worlds apart on the politics of the the day - I am a Trump supporter - as I think you already know - we are still sisters at heart in life. I have so appreciated your encouraging words as I pushed through some challenging timnes regarding my grand quadruplet Kailey's open heart surgery and beyond. I am grateful for the sisterhood of our Christian bond. You have been such a blessing to me and no matter where the politics take us.....we can take comfort that we all pull together as sisters....knowing we all want the very best for our families. Love and prayers for you and Bob from Texas!

    1. You're my best Texas contact after our daughter. I stopped following (didn't unfriend) some Texas family until after the race is over. I can handle having different views. I cannot handle some of the Facebook postings calling for militias to overthrow the country, and kill Clinton by firing squad etc.

  5. I can't wait for the election to be over. I watched Hillary and Donald speak last night at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner. I would think that most people watching would agree that Trump went over the line in several of his "jokes".

Thankfully, Hillary is almost certain to win; the only question is by how much.

So glad you like Bob's new cardiologist. It is hard to coordinate care for someone between all the different doctors and specialists. I'm sure the intentions were good, but sometimes things can get off track.

    1. I can tell you I was more than a little irritated by this latest dust up. Have to say however I'm sure they deal with a lot of clueless people who would be in big trouble if someone wasn't watching over them. It just happened we aren't in that group.
