It Was The Blood Pressure Cuff

Who knew a blood pressure cuff could inflict such damage?

They took Bob's blood pressure twice when we saw the new cardiologist on Friday. All seemed well when we left to go to the anti-coagulation lab but the report there was not good. He'll be seeing them again in the morning. Blood thinners can be tricky to deal with sometimes.

Are you going to watch the presidential debate? I seldom watch them because I'm never an undecided voter and I don't enjoy debates.

The bar is so low for Trump, if he just shows up he'll be declared the winner. I can catch a replay of any stupid things he says or does.

The bar for Hillary is set incredibly high. She's suppose to appear trustworthy, warm and friendly while managing to protect herself from the erratic Trump who has been unleashed on her.  It's very hard to look relaxed and appear to be having a good time under such circumstances.

It remains to be seen how much effort the moderator will put into controlling Trump's behavior.

I'll probably choose the less stressful way by following it on Twitter. Not just Twitter in general but particular people on Twitter.

  1. For the elderly, they can bruise very easily. This really looks bad. I hope he recovers quickly.

    1. I know blood thinners are necessary but they're hard to manage. I can't think of a thing he's done differently to raise his count. I hope it's better tomorrow.

    2. Gosh, I hope it's not as bad as it looks. :(

No, I prefer to watch football to the debate. Nothing Trump says could change my mind (in his favor.) Not sure if I'll watch any of them; probably better for my blood pressure and psyche if I just read about them afterwards. ;)

    3. Debating is not my sport, not at all. Nothing said in that debate will change my mind so why get all tense and stressed?

  2. Coumadin is tricky. There can be no apparent changes in the diet, and yet the levels can be off. Hope he is able to get back on track soon.

I feel the way you do about the debates. I'll probably watch some of it, but it will be stressful for me. So I will likely be channel surfing during the debate and catch the highlights on the political shows the next day. I've never understood how people can not know at this point who they are going to vote for.

    1. I'm such a political animal it's next to impossible for me to imagine there's really a choice. I'm not a Hillary supporter but she's the best of the worst. Amazes me how shallow minded Americans are these days. I have to trust all this noise is coming from a minority of voters. I suspect some of it is from non voters, too angry and bitter to bother voting.

  3. Not sure if I(we)'ll watch the debates. I don't want to listen to comments by my Republican husband who I hope to heaven is not voting for Trump.
And my tolerance for Trump viewing spans about 2 1/3 minutes.
Correct about Hillary - she has to look warm but not grandmotherly, friendly but Presidential, and be on the offense, not defense, and any attack she launches will likely be labeled as shrill.

    1. Bless you my child, I can't imagine being married to a Republican. As political as I am I would have murdered Bob years ago. I hope peace will prevail in your household tonight.

  4. Bob's arm doesn't look bad at all to me, for someone on blood thinners. My husband's arm looked like he'd been beat up and tortured. And it's not like you can "get it right" and it stays that way. It won't. It's just the way it is.

I wouldn't miss the debates for anything. I don't want someone else telling me afterward who is "won" or what were the highlights. It amazes me that they say most people are just tuning in to pay attention to the elections. That scares me! I want them to see all the sleazy things Trump has said.

    1. You are so right, blood thinners have to he monitored all the time. That's why I find them so frustrating.

I really do not enjoy watching a debate. I've probably watched no more than 3 or 4 debates in my life. Just not my thing.

  5. Goodness! Bob's arm looks painful! Bless his heart!
We are going to the camper and guess what? No TV!
LD asked me while ago if we could wait and go tomorrow and I said NO!!
While I'm probably the only one of your friends who is a Trump supporter, I do not like to watch or listen to debates! We will be out in the country and calm should return to the airwaves by the time we get back!

    1. I'm thrilled you are going to get in some time in the country. The weather will hopefully be lovely. Say hi to the goats for me. Our Texas friends and family are Trump supporters therefore I stay away from politics on Facebook. We all get along so much better now that I'm in Oregon! Have a lot of fun.

    2. Well, you are amazing and politics does not top friendship and family! Or it shouldn't ! I started to say it should never trump relationships! Now that's funny!

  6. Amazing that a blood pressure cuff can cause such damage to someone on Coumadin. We have a friend on Coumadin, and we worry about him whenever he gets a small injury. We probably won't watch the debates. We can catch the highlights tomorrow. You're exactly right: low bar for Trump, high bar for Hillary.

    1. Never had this problem before but blood thinners are really tricky. Bob's gotten out of kilter for some reason. We have an appt again this morning with the anti coagulation lab even though we were just there on Friday. I hate blood thinners because they have to be monitored so closely.

  7. Ouch that looks painful but having been on blood thinners myself, I know how easy it is to bruise. Hope he gets regulated soon. Digital blood pressure cuffs pinch like crazy and leave red marks on me. I hate them. I like the old fashioned ones that are hand pumped. No pain.
I won't be watching. I all ready know who I am voting for and don't need to get my panties in a bunch over what someone says or doesn't say. My sister is a Trump fan but we just laugh and say that we are cancelling out each others vote. To be sure that happens will make certain both of us make it to the polls:))

    1. Your last statement is what's important, that we all get to the polls and exercise our right to vote.

  8. Good gosh. That arm looks bad. Sometimes a nurse sets mine too hard and I feel like I'm going to look like that but glad to say I never did. Well, another problem to deal with but the good thing is that it is something that can be dealt with. There are so many with medical problems that can't be fixed. I always feel greatful to ONLY have diabetes. They can't cure it but it can be dealt with.

    1. I know people tire of hearing me say how thankful I am for the wonderful healthcare Bob receives. It's getting pretty hard to manage some of Bob's health issues but we're still in the fight and have wonderful medical support.

  9. How can you not watch? I took a nap so I could stay awake. LOL I've never seen hype like this for any debate or any sport, for that matter. It will probably not be as exciting or determinative of outcome as the analysts are making it out to be. One word. Ratings!

Coumadin is a touchy thing. I had a tetanus shot once that left a very impressive bruise, but Bob's is more so. Hope it heals soon.

    1. I'm so disgusted with the media. I tell myself I should watch the debate for history's sake but I don't expect to live long enough to impress anybody with the fact I was alive to watch Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

  10. That bruising is shocking! I hope Bob gets things leveled out.
Of course I watched the debate. It was difficult to watch at first, since my tolerance level of Trump is low, but by about 30 minutes in, Hillary took command. She was terrific! I see on the Internet that polls say Trump won. Hog wash!

  11. My mom bruised like that as she aged (over 85, I'd say). Clearly, blood thinners are a good part of your issue, but it takes so much less for any of us to bruise as we age. Even now, there are days when I come home with a small bruise on my hand or leg and think, "Where did that come from?" In my youth, anything that caused a bruise hurt! Now? Not so much.

As for the "debates" -- I'll start watching when and if they ever turn into real debates. I used to debate, and what they're throwing up on tv doesn't come close to qualifying. :-)
