Primroses and Spring

I know spring is in the air when I see Primroses out for sale. I can hardly keep my hands off them because they do very well here in Oregon but soon burn up in Texas. It was all I could do to walk away without any today but Bob was with me and I knew I best not yield to temptation. He is not a flower man, nor is he patient while I buy flowers.

I'm trying today to be 'normal,' whatever normal is these days. Had several little jobs in my head so I made a list. It's amazing how much more efficient I am with a list in hand.

I made my appointment for the pulmonary function test. Also made an appointment for an eye exam. I am very annoyed chasing these reader glasses from room to room. I never seem to have the right strength for what I'm doing.

Bob will be going in for lab work this week and seeing the cardiologist early next week. I'm expecting a good report. He's slow as frozen molasses but he's moving and that's what counts.

(Excuse me, I need to say a word here to the President.)

President Trump, I want you to put your phone in your pocket and look at me. I'm going to explain this one more time, listen closely.

You won the election, yes you did. The electoral college is a lawful, legitimate win. What you did not win was the country. I think you will find that to have a successful presidency you have to have one of two things, won both the electoral college and the popular vote, or you have to show a lot of humility. You have neither. Many of the people who voted for you had grave concerns about your ability to function in the office. You lost the popular vote by almost 3 million votes. You do not have the support of the country, and you are not humble. Got that?  Then shape up!!

The President takes to Twitter
"If the ban were announced with a one week notice, the "bad" would rush into our country during that week.  A lot of bad "dudes" out there!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The joint statement of former presidential candidates John McCain & Lindsey Graham is wrong - they are sadly weak on immigration. The two..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thus Tweets the Prez. (This is only two of several last night and this morning.)

Yes, I was glad to see President Obama speak out today on the immigration ban. He said before he left office that he had hoped to be able to walk away and give space to the next administration, like President Bush gave him space, but that might not be possible. He said he would be slow to speak out but there were a few issues he would use his voice as a private citizen.  Human rights was one of those issues.

I see another march is on the calendar. This one is called People's Climate Movement. It's scheduled for April 29. Not sure how many planned marches can be worked in among the spontaneous ones triggered by the President's actions.

This is a good David Brooks column.

I read a splendid, non political, blog post this morning called Generational Transition. I encourage you to read it.

  1. I love primroses but we don't get them here until summer. Those are beautiful.

    Did you see #45---I don't say his name anymore---making fun of Schumer tearing up over the refugees at the airport? President Ass-breath has no class what so ever.

    1. It is so stark the difference between the Obama White House and the Trump White House.

  2. So not even spring or flowers can get your mind off of Trump. There's good reason to worry about this guy. One thing that's needed is an informed population. You are making sure that you are informed.

    1. Tonight he fired the acting attorney general!! Not done since the days of Nixon when he went off the rails. Not sure how you go about bringing a President down but I have no doubt greater minds than mine are working on it. Congress can't get their work done for dealing with Trump's antics.I do know it's vital for the country to continue to take to the streets, and flood elected officials phones. Tonight I read this is no longer a Democrat/Republican issue. It's now a democracy vs authoritarian.

  3. I love primroses too. We have them blooming in the garden all winter long. Another cold snap is on the way, so just wait a bit longer.
    I have read some things today about the Trump administration that have me very worried. It's almost like we have had a hostile take over of our government.

    1. I'm trying to breathe deeply but it isn't easy. Don't remember enough about how they took Nixon out. I'm not sure Pence would be much better. I have no respect for Pence for selling his soul to Trump. Whatever we're in for it is not going to be pretty.

  4. I hate to say it, but I think the only thing that might stop the train wreck in progress at the hands of a puppet who's strings are pulled by Leninist Steve Bannon...is a civil war. Honest to God. :(

    1. I hope you'll read my post I hope to post later today. I'm going to give you some hope to latch onto. It's all that keeps me going. Too much info to put in a comment so read my post.

  5. No primroses in Texas! But I did see some old fashioned wild flowers at the ranch! Once - long years ago - I planted sweet peas. They were beautiful for a week or two! I so want to grow lavender but I have managed to kill so many, I feel guilty at the thought of trying again!

    1. I do miss Texas wildflowers in Oregon! That said, lavender grows here on farms and they have Lavender Festivals on those farms and sell all things related to lavender. Primroses and petunias have an unbelievably long growing season and hydrangea blossoms are the size of dinner plates.

  6. I am still startled when anyone mentions a sign of spring at this time of year -- too many winters in Vermont where the beginning of February usually means three more long months of winter (and February somehow being the longest among them).

    The political scene gets worse and worse each day. Now the AG has been fired. I suppose Bannon will be appointed to take over that function. And there are still those who actually support this nonsense. None so blind as those who will not see...

    1. I'm trying to read things written by conservatives and some I can understand but so many are so ill informed they're just off the rails. There's no understanding or reasoning with those so corrupted by "alternative facts" and conspiracy theories and those are Trump's base.

  7. We are so far from seeing primroses for sale that it isn't funny. We still have February, which can be heavy with snow, and March, which can be heavy with snow, rain, slush, and run-of-the-mill yuckiness. Your message to Trump is spot-on. I wish he could see it, but he'd blow it off. Did you see his tweets about Schumer's tears? Very spiteful and third grade.

    1. He, and all who surround him, are spiteful and act like grade school bullies. I expect Kellyanne Conway and Sean Spicer to totally come unglued any day. Embarrassing to watch such juvenile behavior.

  8. Windows open again today so I am wanting to get my hands dirty also but know it is too soon or by all rights should be. With this weird weather--who knows.
    If you want his email address it is president@whitehouse.gov. I sent him one today pleading for him NOT to back out of the global pact to cut emissions. I probably just poked the bear but I gave it a shot.

  9. Primroses! So pretty. I'm ready for spring. It's not that far away, really.
