Everybody Needs Passion

Democrats have no passion. They don't like to fight. They aren't suspicious, and don't go in for conspiracy theories. They just rock along content to be about the needs of American's citizens. They get bored, they become apathetic, and then they die.

Republicans, on the other hand, have passion. They were passionate for twenty-four years on the mission of ridding America of Bill and Hillary Clinton. They were passionate for eight years in blocking every bit of legislation proposed by Barack Obama.

They are highly suspicious, like conspiracy theories, and feel they're on a mission for God, all ingredients for a lot of passion.

Bathrooms in America are under threat because Republicans are passionate about who can enter. They are passionate about sex. God has appointed them the world's moral police. They are passionate in their cause to set the guidelines and punish those who disobey.

What will it take to make Democrats passionate?  Is it possible to be as passionate about good as it is evil? Does passion need an enemy to survive?

It's time Democrats develop some passion.

  1. I think Democrats are passionate, we just channel it differently. I heard a comedian the other day say the Republicans are black and white thinkers and Democrats aren't. Republicans will give you a firm opinion of something like say Pro-Life or gay marriages while Democrats will say, "Well, on one hand so-and-so but on the other hand..." showing compassion for those who live in the gray areas. I wouldn't call the obstructionists passionate, I'd call them stubborn.

    1. Obstructionists may be stubborn but that's fueled by passion, righteous indignation, righteous anger etc.

  2. We had a premier who described it as fire in his belly. He had fire in his belly and kept on running and winning.

  3. Very interesting post! I don't quite know how to respond. I was very passionate about this election, and now I am paying for those intense feelings with emotional pain and despair. It lingers.
I think there is passion among Dems, but since we see things as complex, it is much harder to focus that passion.

    1. This is what I was trying to say, only you said it so much better.

    2. I stand corrected Linda. I should have said I felt no passion for this election. I see where you are coming from, you felt a lot of passion.

Even so, I feel the party has work to do before before it will be viable for 2020. Four years is a long time in politics and I firmly believe good things are ahead for Democrats.

Perhaps we will even figure out where our focus needs to be. Apparently this time it should have been Rust Belt economy for non College whites. Who would have thought it.

  4. Maybe it is easier to become complacent when my ideas are so obviously correct and the right is so clearly very wrong -- who wouldn't see that. I was not active enough in this last election and now I am sorry. I am moved to go out and buy Bernie's book now.

  5. Pretty broad brush strokes there...
Maybe if more energy was spent on finding solutions, than on slamming the opposition, more constructive results would follow...
