It Is Over Until Next Time

Daughter's visit is over. She hopes to come again the end of September. We always enjoy seeing her and since we were both feeling better we enjoyed her visit more than usual.

Yesterday we received very good news from the cardiologist. I had taken a report of Bob's blood pressure readings in to his office for him to review. He thought they looked good and said to keep him off his blood pressure medications. Yippee!!

Daughter lives in Texas where temps right now are in triple digits. Here temps were in the high 60s and low 70s. She thought it was heavenly so we spent time walking and enjoying the cool weather.

In my working days I suppose we experienced the first round of 'organizers.' I am the queen of organizers. Daughter tells me when I become senile she will just open an organizer full of papers and spill the contents. That will entertain me for hours getting it all organized again, and the next day she will repeat the process.

Not working I don't have a lot to organize anymore so I haven't done that kind of shopping in twelve years. Yesterday I made up for that time. Not sure what I'm going to do with all this stuff but I could not resist. What the heck, maybe I'll just sit and enjoy looking at it.

Did you ever use organizers?

  1. I am definitely an organizer. Disorder in my life does not make me happy! But I am not a big user of "organizers" per se. Just the usual hanging file folders with tabs neatly labeled and alphabetized. I currently have a file box with receipts and warranties of anything we buy of significance, such as appliances, electronics, etc. This is definitely overdue for a cleaning out. The other day I saw a file folder for a clock radio that bit the dust long ago.

So glad you enjoyed some quality time with your daughter. And that is great news about Bob's BP meds! It will surely help him to feel a little perkier :-)

    1. Sounds like me. I have to have a place for everything and everything in its place.

  2. Getting organized is fun. Staying organized is a little harder, but there are all kinds of things out there to help us. It gets you in the mood.

So glad you enjoyed your daughter's visit. Those flowers are beautiful.

    1. Yes, staying organized is an ongoing thing. It makes life easier if you can keep it simple. Over organizing can consume all your time.

  3. Those flower balls at the top are absolutely wonderful! What are they planted in, do you know?

I'm super organized too, and I love organizing boxes, etc.

Glad Bob gets to stay off the meds and you had a good time with your daughter.

    1. I believe they're in baskets that use moss liners. They are not standard petunias but rather 'trailing' petunias. They not only plant inside the basket but also make holes around the outside and plant there also. They are huge. They have a little tractor type machine with a water tank on it and have a long wand for watering. Petunias seem to be at their best here in August.

    2. I was guess moss baskets or blocks.

Your walkway is beautiful, too, so peaceful looking.

  4. Your pile of organizer materials reminds me of the thrill of buying back-to-school supplies. Loved it as a student, loved it as a teacher. Loved the feeling of getting my life under control. Miss it now, although I did buy a new daily calendar just last week.

  5. Hahaha. I'll have to pass this recommendation on to my daughter. I do worry about the burden I might be.

    1. All we can do is try to keep ourselves healthy and hope for the best.

  6. I've never been one for organizers, but when you get right down to it, I don't have much to organize. When Mom still was alive, it was different, just because I had to keep up with appointments, medical bills, medications, and such. Still, I've always kept things in manila envelopes with the contents written on the outside. It works.

What is getting to me at this point is organizing my bookmarks and photos on this computer. I've just about finished culling bookmarks, and the next step is the photos. I want to move everything into Lightroom, but there's no use moving photos I don't want. So: cull first, then move. It's the same rule I always used for moving a household.

    1. Whatever works is my motto. I've never done bookmarks on the computer. Any sense of organizing photos on the computer totally escapes me.

  7. I admire people who are organized. My organization is a big pile on my desk. when it becomes overwhelming it goes in the garbage. Sad I know.

    1. I once worked for a professor who insisted on a clean desk. She kept a crate under her desk where she periodically raked everything off her desktop. Not good.

  8. First, congrats on your husband's bp situation! :)

I'm a huge OCD organizer. For years I typed a daily to-do list for my loose-leaf Daytimer. Early this year I tried to get into the new fancy schmancy artsy-fartsy organizer movement, but realized I liked minimalism better because I have no artist ability. I'm currently using the Staples ARC system, with a little wasabi tape, and loving it.

    1. You are a person of my own heart! I too tried the new artsy stuff and quickly decided it was for the birds. Just give me the standard stuff and I'm happy. Interesting that living in a computer world people still like to see their calendar and planner in paper.

  9. Great news about Bob's BP. Finally a doctor who listens. I am only partially organized and happy that way. Had to laugh at your daughter's idea on how to keep you amused in your later years.
So glad you had such a nice visit and she got a taste of sweater weather after triple digits. Those temps sound divine.
