He's Too Fast or I'm Too Slow

You'd think as long as Bob and I have been married we would have worked out all the marriage wrinkles, not. I hear people remark about a couple "they can finish each other's thoughts," not us. I've also heard a lot over the years about communication being the secret to a good marriage. I can tell you we've totally failed in the area of communication.

After 54 years you would think Bob would know how I like my coffee. He's a real sweetheart for trying but again, we've failed to communicate. Every morning I have a cup of coffee and a glass of ice water waiting by my chair when I come out of the bedroom. You can't ask for anything more dear than that can you? Well, yes you can, the coffee is always cold.

I decided I'd make another run at this communication thing. I suggested he was making my coffee too soon but he said I was spending too much time in the bathroom. So much for communication.

I'm totally hooked on Donald Trump's Twitters, constantly checking to see if he's topped himself is fun. I'm enjoying it but I felt like I needed an interest I could sink my teeth into and I certainly don't want it to be him.

Reading everything from A-Z, as I'm prone to do, it finally began to dawn on me the country is in for another big transition as in, the New Deal in the 1930s, the Great Society in the 1960s, and the Reagan Revolution in the 1980s. We're overdue for one.

How exciting. Where will this take us? Which party will lead? What will happen to the two existing parties? Will we see new parties emerge? It's a lot of fun to think about.

  1. Okay, coffee. Just warm your coffee up in the microwave without saying anything. Bob IS a sweetheart for being thoughtful. Many women would kill to live with a thoughtful man. LOL

My blood pressure couldn't take reading Trump's twitters. I agree that if Hillary gets elected then will are in for another big New Deal type change. I just don't want her supporters to get complacent because Trump is doing his best to trash himself.

    1. Apathy is the thing that threatens the future of the Democratic Party. That and letting Hillary hang on too long. What are Democrats going to do in 2020?

  2. That coffee story is a hoot? That Bob can be so stubborn sometimes.

    1. He's always right. His twin was the same way.

  3. OK, that's it, Bob. That coffee thing is not for Linda, it's for you. If you were really being thoughtful, you would have it ready and hot when she sits down to drink it! Empty gesture.
I don't know if there will be something big coming out of this political climate. I actually think we will continue to stumble along. We are still too divided, with half of us each wanting a different outcome.

    1. I don't see the Republican Party splitting. I fully expect them to pick themselves up, dust themselves off and once again run splat into a brick wall in 2020. Unless Democrats bring in some new faces by 2020 apathy will be Ddemocrats undoing.

  4. It will be interesting to watch, although, I'm not sure we will live long enough for history to percolate enough for us to recognize the changes. Sometimes it takes years to see where it all leads.

My husband makes the coffee in the morning, too. I'm one of those people who likes her coffee very hot. I usually pop it in the microwave for a little reheat when I'm about half finished. How picky am I.

    1. Yes change does come slowly. I too doubt many of us will be around to see the finish. I am planning to be around for 2020. I've grown used to drinking lukewarm coffee.

  5. Two others ideas for cold coffee:

    1. a coffee warmer. It plugs in, and is sometimes sold as a candle warmer. He puts the coffee mug on that.

    OR

    2. a travel mug that stays warm for a good 3 hours. Get rid of the coffee mugs.

    :)

The whole political thing; damned I have never seen our country so deeply and PASSIONATELY divided! It's cray-cray.

    1. I like the travel mug idea. None of us have a clue about the politics but I'm having a blast keeping up with it.

  6. I read this while I was in the country and I suppose it's the thought that counts! Louis Dean makes my coffee (I drink wimpy weak gourmet flavored coffee) and he put a smidgeon of HIS coffee in it (so as to make it look like coffee other than somewhat weak tea!) and it was delicious!!! He continues to do this but has gotten a little heavy handed with the hard stuff! I don't want to hurt his feelings but I can't drink it like that so we had a honest little chat. He will probably forget but I will simply add more hot water and weaken it down, I guess. It IS the thought that counts, RIGHT???
