Peanut Feeder

It was such fun this morning when our resident squirrel found the peanut feeder. No doubt this one is a male because he's knocked over two of my flower pots and scrambles across another to get to the feeder with no regard for the plant. A female would be more considerate. I have named him 'Nibbles,' and told him not to spread the word. I'm not feeding the whole neighborhood.

I can report this peanut feeder really works.

This morning I mustered up my courage and deleted everything related to politics off Twitter and Facebook.  I was spending far too much time of that stuff. The tedious part is unsubscribing from the political emails.

Most of the time they come back ever if you unsubscribe yourself. Some of the ones asking for donations do not list a way to unsubscribe. Some of those are getting a little pushy and that annoys me.

I may be confused but it seems to me there was a time in the 60s when Democrats went so far to the left they hit a brick wall. As I remember it was a very turbulent time and also very violent. The country eventually did begin moving to the right, away from the extreme. I believe Democrats did not get their act together again, as a party, until Bill Clinton came along in 92.

It seems to me that may be what's happening to Republicans. They've gone so far to the right they've hit a brick wall. They haven't figured that out yet so they're still making run after run only to go splat against that wall. I have to think eventually they will have to begin moving away from the extreme.

There is this thing called center. I'd like to see both parties get somewhere in the vicinity of center. Close enough to still hurl insults but come together eventually and vote for the good of the country. What we have now just isn't working.

  1. Good to know the peanut feeder works, I had thought it would.

    1. I am having great fun watching this squirrel. It's also supposed to be good for feeding blue jays, woodpeckers etc. Haven't seen any big birds yet but perhaps they will come in time.

  2. You're tempting me to get a peanut feeder...if I can figure out where to hang it so the dog can't see but I still can. He barks at anything that moves.

You are a brave woman to delete all the political stuff off your Facebook and Twitter. I don't think I could do that. I don't post stuff myself in those two venues but I like to see what's going on in that world. I never get political related emails because I'm careful about not taking part in online polls or donations. I agree with you that the Republican may have hit their brick wall this election. I just hope they don't over correct and we end up with Trump as a president.

    1. I gave on line one time to one of my senator and the emails requesting donations descended on me like locusts. I'm about to Google how I can direct all of them to the trash. I can only take politics to a certain level and then it becomes a mental health issue for me. I reach a point that I have to stop it or I'll become totally obsessed with it. The only thing I can do to make a difference is vote. I faithfully do that. Aside from that I don't know of anything I can do to create change.

  3. I think you hit the nail on the head. The GOP is really to far out there and I think it is because the separation of state and religion and been intertwined.

    1. It's hard for me to tell just how many are really radical. My sense is a minority but they make so much noise, and storm and stomp around so that the rest of the party gives in to them. I don't know what their path is going to be but I don't see how the country continue with this complete gridlock. As bad as Trump seems, he may just be what the party needs to shake the rest loose from the most radical faction.

    2. It would be disastrous to our relationships around the world if Trump gets elected. I'm all for shaking up the parties so they get back to governing with the give and take it takes to move us forward, but the only way that is going to happen is if we get Citizens United overturned, get big money out of the equation. We cannot let Trump be the person to pick Supreme Court Justices. Too many of them are at retirement age!

  4. As strange as it may seem, I believe Trump is moving the party more to the center. He will be the Repub candidate, and he is not really a conservative, certainly not a Tea Partier. It will be interesting to see what he and Paul Ryan can agree on.

    1. I think you may be right. I think the band of radicals is really not that large but they've certainly managed to get control of the party and rule with an iron hand. Trump may just be the one to break that up. I can't see how we're going to be able to operate when once party has completely shut down everything. I think the more radical establishment Republicans see Paul Ryan as the future of the party but I certainly don't. He has absolutely not one thing new in his policy bag. He's Jack Kemp and Ronald Reagan all the way through and that won't cut it today. I look for him to have a very hard time in the House. If Trump can break up the nonsense I say more power to him.

  5. I just don't have faith with the Donald. He has not been consistent in what he says. And, more importantly, his understanding of international relations/security is very limited and frightening to me. I hope Hillary wins. She has the smarts and the experience to run this country.

    1. I will be voting for Hillary in November but more as a vote against Trump than a vote for Hillary. Democrats have let Hillary hold the stage too long in my opinion. I'm sorry we got caught with her as the candidate in this 2016. With Trump as the Republican candidate there should not have been a question who'd win in November. I'm ready to see new faces leading Democrats.

  6. My e-mail sorts into personal, social, and promotional categories. I direct all unwanted e-mails into promotional and I usually delete-all after a quick glance through the list. I made one small donation or two and feel like I am being dunned ever since.

    1. I've learned my lesson about donating online. I also resent they seem to be getting more aggressive, like I owe it to them. Apparently their system brings in a lot of money, but not from me.

  7. I think you are right about the Reps hitting the wall. I really believe we haven't seen the real Trump yet. I think he is way more centrist than he has let the voters believe. Still, I won't be voting for him.

    1. I won't be voting for him either. I really want a Democrat in the White House during the next four years as we have some Supreme Court justices who should be retiring soon. It's so important that we get good justices as those are lifetime appointments.
