Grandson Like Grandfather

My father has always held a special place in the life of our son.  They formed a tight bond the summer Rodger was three years old.  He walked many a mile following his grandfather.

He shares many of my father's habits and traits.  Sometimes I wonder what is genetics and what he copied from my father those many years ago.

My father has been dead since 1988 and Rodger still refers to him often.

Thanksgiving he showed up dressed like his PawPaw, striped overalls, my father's old glasses, his pocket watch, etc.  He wanted to make a picture of him today to see how much he he resembled his grandfather.

What do you think?

    1. I don't think Rodger has a drop of Hillin blood. People often ask if he's adopted because he is so much quieter than the rest of us. I tell them I can't believe they would ask that knowing how much the two of us resemble. Our daughter, the opposite, all Hillin.

    1. I've given Rodger every item I can find that belonged to my father because he treasures them so.

    1. He may not bear my father's name but he is all Tidwell.

  6. Yep, he sure does. How neat that his memory is still so strong in his grandson.

  7. It's amazing to see how many of his mannerisms are my father's, and how many phrases he uses that my father used.

  8. it's like a duplicate. I heard somewhere that we tend to look like our grandparents more than our parents. your sun shows that's true. Enjoyed this post especially today as yesterday was the 22nd anniversary of my father's death and I was needing a "family fix" type post.
